Kids takeover Scrumconnect's office

This half term, the Scrumconnect office was full of energy as employees brought their children in for a fun-filled day of activities.

The event marked the launch of an exciting new initiative, giving children aged 5–18 a chance to experience the tech industry and gain insight into the important work their parents do.

For the older group, the day began with tech-themed sessions designed to help them connect with one another while exploring the technologies they use every day. This was followed by a scavenger hunt, where they uncovered fun facts about the business and the different roles within it.

One of the highlights was a binary code masterclass, where participants learned how to convert letters into binary and used their new skills to create beaded jewellery spelling words of their choice.

Meanwhile, the younger children were introduced to coding through interactive group games. They explored topics such as technology, internet safety, and the different parts of a computer. They also built LEGO mazes and created simple codes to guide characters safely through them, bringing coding concepts to life in a fun and creative way.

After lunch, the older group got hands-on with micro:bits, coding projects such as a virtual pet hamster and a rock, paper, scissors game. They also worked in teams to develop business ideas, which they pitched to a panel of senior Scrumconnect employees. The younger group enjoyed an Easter egg hunt, along with a range of craft activities and games.

It was a fantastic day all round, with every child taking part enthusiastically and receiving a certificate to celebrate their achievements.
