The BCS & Computing UK IT Industry Awards are a platform for the entire profession to celebrate best practice, innovation and excellence. These are the awards I always aimed to get into because I jokingly tell my colleagues that UKIT awards are like the Oscars of IT awards in UK. So it feels even more special to be listed for

This wouldn't have been possible without great work by DWP and SC colleagues.
We delivered user-centered design and automated straight-through processing mean the citizen experience is simple, easy, and available online 24/7. For DWP it is low-cost, efficient and accurate and means timely State Pension processing for 12 million citizens and £101bn annually. The service takes 80% of claims online and 66% are automatically processed straight-through to citizens. More info of the service
Through incredible dedication and hard work, a team was able to design and develop a brand new digital service that enabled citizens to apply for Pension Credit 24/7, without the need to phone DWP. In only 4 weeks the new service was live and achieved an online channel shift of 50% within the first month, and took over 70,000 new claims within the first quarter.The professionalism, dedication commitment to quality, and pace of the team and stakeholders responsible for the service were terrific. The impact it had on vulnerable citizens being able to get the benefits they needed was huge and the lessons learned are being iterated to become a fully automated end-to-end service in the future.
