We at Scrumconnect Consulting are growing in these difficult times too. Last week we did a remote onboarding of 11 people. Remote onboarding has its own challenges but was smooth to meet the 2 goals of onboarding:

1. Individuals: Being able to contribute to the team fast

2. Team and Client: Add value and reach performing mode as soon as possible

It was smooth due to some of the  below factors

1. Good start to onboarding session that helped the new consultants acclimatised very quickly by our Innovations Game coach- Nel Mathams

2. Clearly laid out onboarding pack by our CTO Mark Hunter and people manager Natalie-Rose Joseph :

We catalogued the most important onboarding information; create an onboarding checklist; institute a “buddy” to onboard new people to the team.

3. A clear understanding of vision, why the work is done, the lay of the land, both from the technical and business perspective by Mark Hunter and Mahesh Subramanian

4. Scrumconnect Charter detailing general behaviours we expect from Scrumconnect Consulting consultants on client projects

5. Buddy system for the initial week or so to ease the transition into the team

6. Pairing with existing team members is the most effective way, also individuals picking up a bug to fix is one of effective way for the individual to understand the deployment process and lifecycle within the client environment.
