From India to London – journey of our consultant so far

Tell us a little bit about you

I am a passionate coder with a decade of experience in building complex distributed systems and enterprise applications

What attracted you to the role at Scrumconnect, particularly one that’s all the way in London?

Opportunity to work on a large scale software which directly affects UK citizens daily life. Being a growing consultancy it has greater visibility and growth trajectory, apart from that international exposure was like a cherry on a cake.

Describe your experience interviewing remotely with Scrumconnect? Which was your favourite step in the interview process? And why?

Scrumconnect has a well-defined interview process that aims to pick the best among the best candidates. The test is more focused on what we do on a day to day basis and focusing more on test-driven development was the best part, The hiring team made the remote collaboration so easy and it can’t get any better

Which was the most challenging step of the process and what did you learn?

Getting all the necessary documents ready and applying for the visa was the toughest part for me, especially since the NARIC certificate took quite a long time to reach Bangalore from the UK. Take easy from this experience is to always apply for Speed post rather than normal delivery via Royal Mail

Describe how you applied a test-driven approach?

It’s simple, have a clear understanding of requirements, identify the main classes, methods and helpers you have to create for this requirement, now write the test for all acceptance criteria. Now as you implement the method body just make sure your test passes.

Why did you choose to accept the role at Scrumconnect and relocate to London, how was your induction and experience so far?

Some of the reasons are the same as what attracted me to this role. We had an engaging induction with all the new joiners, it was great to meet new people. Fortunately, I got into a great team, from the very first week I started on the critical deliveries team was very supportive in getting me up to the speed in no time.

What advice do you have for someone who is interested in joining Scrumconnect from overseas?

It’s a positive experience so far, and that is the case with most of the people who joined with me, there is nothing to lose in fact you will gain hell lot of experience which will shape your future. London has a lot to offer apart from your work, it’s a beautiful city to explore.
